I am a newbie and am confused by the supplements. I was turned on to this diet by my lovely aunt that has had much success. She helped me with what to buy.
CLA (conjugated linoleic acid blend) at Trader Joes- 1000 mg per pill
Oil of Evening Primrose at Trader Joes- 1000 mg per pill
But, in the book suggests GLA supplements of 90 mg per capsule (two a time two times daily)- 360 mg
Right now in Phase 1 I am taking 1 CLA and 1 Primrose per meal ( three times daily of each)
the math makes it seem like too much but I am confused as to what the CLA and Primrose are relative to the GLA she is talking about in the book.
I hope someone can help!
Welcome to Fat Flush and the Forum! There are three sources of GLA: Evening Primrose oil, Borage oil, and Black Current seed oil. Dr. ALG has determined after much research and observation of her thousands of clients that the BCSO is the most bio-available of the sources and it doesn't cause the brea-through bleeding that can happen with the EPO.
So, I would recommend finishing your EPO (look at the back of the bottle and be sure you are getting in approx 400mg of Gamma Linoleic Acid GLA) then switching to the BCSO. UniKey sells it and you can get a 10% Forum discount.
Be sure you're getting in your Flax Seed Oil and Ground Flax Seeds, also.
There's a great support thread going, they'd love you to drop in and share struggles and victories.
Thank you SO MUCH! Extremely helpful. I am going to use up my EPO and then move to the BCSO. I understand what that the 360 of GLA in the book means now that you've explained. On my bottle of EPO, though the softgels are 1000mg, the amount of GLA per pill is 90mg. So, I am taking 3 per day which is a little under, so it sounds like I should up it to 4 per day. I am assuming 2 at 2 meals per day is what is suggested.
Also, the Conjugated Linoleic Acid Blend (CLA) I have bought is 1000mg softgels yielding 740 mg of CLA. Should I keep this at 3 times per day?
I am taking Flax Seed Oil. When I make smoothies I am putting it in them but on the days that I don't (I did notice you cannot use flaxseed in any hot cooking) I have Flaxseed Oil softgels that are 1000mg. Do you think once a day for flax seed is good? I am sure over time you learn what works best for your body but being new at this it is great to have some guidelines.
So far I feel good on this plan! I'm down 6 lbs and it hasn't been a week yet so that is good! Better than that I am just feeling better, more energy in my body and more positive energy in my mind. Really hoping this is the answer I have been looking for!
thank you for the help!!!
