    Default This Is Awesome!

Hello, my name is Jan. I'm in my 2nd week of the Detox Fat Flush period. I'm 56, postmenopausal, sedentary, and thanks to this program, less fat than I was 10 days ago!! I bought the original FFP book, the FFP Cookbook, the FFP For Life book, and the Journal & Shopping Guide, read them and said, I can do this! I've found this to be the best dietary plan I've ever been on, and the journaling is far more helpful than I ever thought it could be.

I had most of the symptoms I've read about, but thankfully, most came & went the same day they started. I guess it's because I'm Vegetarian, and I'm taking all my supplements, not much of a coffee drinker, salt user, etc. BUT I also ate way too many carbs and fats every day, and ate randomly and sometimes with abandon, so this plan is reshaping my eating habits. I guess my days of eating anything I like were long over, I just had to make the choice to do something about the the effects of years of my self-indulgent eating style.
I am not a patient person by nature, but the results I'm getting are impressive, giving me the desire to stay on track. I think I'll be journaling the FFP for life, it seems to be a great way to become/be more mindful of everything I eat, something this program has taught me from the first day.....every bite counts!

    Regards,
    Jan

YAY for you Jan!!! It's so great to read your post and catch all the excitement coming from you!

Yes! Journalling is an amazing tool. So funny how we lose track of how much we've eaten with out. Makes us more mindful and accountable when we know it's gonna get entered!

Try to adjust your thinking: Your days of eating anything you like are not over but what you like will change and you'll want to eat what you like now. I used to be able to eat a pot of onion dip. Now, when I taste it, it tastes like plastic.

Stop by often with your great uplifting posts, and jump in the support thread if you'd like some getting healthy buddies (hate the d word).

    Janine,

You said "Your days of eating anything you like are not over but what you like will change and you'll want to eat what you like now. I used to be able to eat a pot of onion dip. Now, when I taste it, it tastes like plastic."

The problem is that NOTHING tastes bad to me. I LOVE all foods except Durian! I LOVE cooking, I find it a creative outlet. Thankfully I do have other hobbies, but inspired cooking is(was) a huge part of my life... I can, and do make everything from Pad Thai to Bouche de Noel from scratch. I've made breads and pasta from scratch every week because I WANTED to. Too much of my life *HAS* (past tense now) revolved around food, cooking delicious, exotic, fattening food is in my blood. I am good enough that people ASK me to make them stuff all the time, and not just on holidays. I have always taken pride that an old boyfriend once told me "Jan, you could make PLYWOOD taste great!' I have a walk in pantry filled to the rafters with exotic food stuffs, flours, and ingredients for world wide cooking. I read international cookbooks like most people read the paper.

This is why I said I can't eat the things I did, or the way I did anymore. I was completely without limits. It has been restaurant/vacation food all the time, all I wanted. What I want now is to lose a total of 90lbs. I am looking at a short term goal of crossing the 200lb line by New Years. I just got a gym membership with my Dr's blessing. I have to change my entire life, and I am ready.

LOL JJ...you and I sound so much alike!

I can't remember a time when I wasn't cooking, baking and inhaling cookbooks! I literally grew up surrounded by food as my dad owned a wholesale food business and was always bringing an unending supply of incredible "goodies" home for us to try. And because it was a wholesale business, it was nothing for our fridge to be stocked with 5 pound bars of cream cheese and tubs of sour cream. Eggs were brought home by the crate...do you see where I am going with this?? Heck, I even had a 30 year collection of Bon Appetit and Gourmet Magazines before my hubbie made me give them away! My obsession with cooking did lead me to get a degree in Nutrition Science and Clinical Dietetics, but unfortunately what I learned in college didn't prevent me from packing on the pounds and becoming VERY unhealthy.

I will be perfectly honest with you...if I hadn't found Dr. Ann Louise and the Fat Flush eating lifestyle, I don't know where my weight and my health would be today...I am excited to share with you that I have successfully beat PCOS, metabolic syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome and have maintained a very large weight loss for several years.

And you know what? I am still cooking! But now my white flour and sugar delicacies as well as my yen for ethnic cooking have been replaced by healthier versions. If you want to see proof, just check out the recipe sections on my website to see how I cook NOW!
