    Cool Zoloft and weight gain

    Hi Y'all,

I am so looking forward to starting the Fat Flush Shakedown tomorrow! I have always been thin and a runner, but starting last December my doctor put me on zoloft to help with my season affect disorder (depression during the winter months). I started to gain about a pound or two a week. I didn't put two and two together until about 50lbs later and I happened to mention it to my doctor, who agreed with me the medication was probably the culprit. I have now been off the zoloft for about a month (yes, under a doc's supervision) and continue to run and eat healthy, always watching my portions, yet I have not lost a single pound. On a positive note the scale is no longer going up!

Question to the group would be, has anyone else battled this kind of weight gain from medication? If so, what helped jump start weight loss? I am hoping the FFS will do the trick. I have been on Ann Louise's detox programs before to cleanse (not for weightloss) and loved how great I felt. I am praying I can soon get rid of all these fat clothes I had to buy and have my skinny body back!

Any advice or tips, comments are welcomed!

    Thank you,

    Jill

    Aloha Jill,

I haven't had the same experience, but I can tell you that just a few days on an antidepressant sets the scale back for about 10 days for me.
So add up all the time you've been on the zoloft and know that it will take your body a while to detox. My massage therapist says our fat cells hold onto the toxins, so clearing our systems is a ever evolving process.

Just keep following the plan and all things will shift.

Patience is the hard part. Check out some of our threads and feel free to hang out and talk story with the gang.

Oh and - welcome to the group!
We can't comment on your journal, but can comment on threads here.

Just wanted to let you know that I am beginning week 10 of my new fat flushing lifestyle - and it is a lifestyle, not a diet.
Feels good to know I can do this for the rest of my life. Hang out with us and we'll help keep you focused and motivated.

Thank you so much Wendy! That makes a lot of sense..... my body will probably take some time to detox all the meds out. I plan on being patient, because it's about a lifestyle change. I love this forum, you all seem like a great group of very caring and supporting ladies!

There are a lot of great people on the forum. Please feel free to drop into any of the existing threads in the challenges - you don't have to start a new one unless you want to. I know a lot of folks read my Vibrant thread - and a few drop in to chat. It's kinda like having open house in your kitchen. Drop in and talk story anytime you want to.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

    Wendy
