Default Can someone take a look...Is this good?

    Hey all,

Today is my first SS day and I'm wondering if I'm doing it right. I'm a vegetarian and did the FF a couple of years ago, but with two kids now, I thought the SS would be easier for me.

So, here's what i've had today:

    Woke up: lemon water
    Breakfast: SS Smoothie
    Lunch: SS Smoothie
    3pm: 1 hardboiled egg
Working on my 7th glass of cran water
Dinner will be the Ethopian lentil stew (2 cups) from the FF cookbook and firecracker slaw.
I may have another smoothie around ish if I'm feeling hungry...(I did have another smoothie.)

Day 2: doing the same thing.

    Any advise/thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Best,
    Michelle

Hi Michelle! It sounds like you're mostly on track, but let me make a few insights for you

    Woke up: lemon water
    Great!
    Breakfast: SS Smoothie
Also great! You can do unlimited veggies at any time, like between your smoothies. This helps keep your blood sugar stable and reduce cravings.
    Lunch: SS Smoothie
    Perfect!
    3pm: 1 hardboiled egg
You can have 2 eggs per day, just in case you'd like to throw another one in there somewhere, like on a salad with your dinner!
Working on my 7th glass of cran water
    Super
Dinner will be the Ethopian lentil stew (2 cups) from the FF cookbook and firecracker slaw.
Now this is where you need some help. Lentils are not a part of the Smoothie Shakedown program. They are allowed in Phase 3 of the Fat Flush Plan, but not until then. Given that you are eating vegetarian, I understand that this might be one of the best protein options available to you, but if you can, get some tofu or tempeh once or twice a week. Definitely eat 2 eggs per day, and have some fish, too if you do that The third serving of Body Protein is essential for vegetarians, but be sure you're only doing 2 servings of fruit per day regardless. I usually will have a full cup in my morning smoothie, then half a cup in my lunch smoothie, and the other half cup in my evening smoothie. It sounds like you're doing great so far! keep up the good work
I may have another smoothie around ish if I'm feeling hungry...(I did have another smoothie.)

Thank you so much, Sue! Ugh on the lentils. I should have paid more attention. I made a double batch of the stew up yesterday because it was so easy and I knew it would be simple to reheat and eat. I was planning on making some spaghetti squash and having it with mushrooms and cottage cheese, would that be okay? Any other ideas for vegetarian recipes?
I don't eat fish and don't really eat tofu all that often, but will try.
Is it 2 servings of tofu and 2 servings of tempeh weekly or just 2 servings of a soy food?

    Thanks again,
    Michelle

That's two servings of soy food per week. Tempeh is a nice varriation and is great in a stir fry. If you are OK with eggs, you could have more of them for protein. You could have 2 eggs with veggies in a little omelet for your meal.

Just wondering if it would be horrible for me to eat the Lentil stew for 2 more days (I have 2 more servings left.) I'm guessing it will hinder my weight loss /progress???

One more question. Can vegetarians have a daily dairy serving on the SS? I checked the book and don't see mention of it anywhere, but wanted to double check.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Nonniecita,

    Welcome to the Forum!

To get optimal results, it would be better to follow the program as written. The lentil stew while extremely healthy (and delicious!) has too many carbs to be Shakedown friendly. That said, you don't want to waste any, so maybe freeze the leftovers so you can enjoy them when you're not on the SS? If you decide to finish it, I'd perhaps consider adding a few days onto the SS to get the optimal results.

    Hope this helps!
