    Default looking to start SS

I'm just beginning to read about the SS. When I did FF phase 1 a few years ago, the SS didn't exist, so I'm excited for this easier option!

I have yet to read more about it, but I'm wondering what a vegetarian is allowed to do for extra protein? I think on the original FF, ALG discouraged much soy and it was suggested to do an extra serving of whey per day - is that what I would do for the SS, as well - an extra serving of the Body Protein?

Also, besides deriving from different sources, how does the Body Protein differ from the Whey Protein? How is it better for weight loss than whey? Is whey better for other things?

Lastly, for purposes later, is the whey protein casein free?

    Thanks!

    Hi Marianne and Midwest Rose!

    Welcome to the Forum!

Marianne...orders from Uni key can take anywhere from a few days to a week to reach your house, depending on where you live. One of my Shakedown clients who lives in CA received her kit in I think 2 days. However, since I live clear across the country from Uni Key, my orders take close to a week.

Midwest Rose..great questions! As a vegetarian, you may still enjoy tofu up to 2x/week on the SS. You may also have a rd smoothie (providing another 20 g protein), but just make sure you limit your fruit servings to 2 daily. No other modifications should be needed.

With the Body Protein, most Shakers say they feel full up to 5 hours, where the Whey Protein typically lasts 2-3 hours. Being the SS is a limited food program, feeling satiated for those extra hours is significant. There is alot of research lately about plant-based proteins being an excellent way to jumpstart weight loss. However, the Whey Protein is also great for weight loss due to the glutathione. If you search through Dr. Ann Louise's blogs (www.annlouise.com) you will find she has written quite a bit about the merits of both.

    Hope this helps Ladies!

Do post often so we can continue to answer your questions and cheer you along your SS journeys!

If I use the Body Protein for the SS, and I add an extra smoothie for the protein, would it be recommended to stick with the Body Protein, or could I use the Whey Protein (just to shake things up?). It probably doesn't really matter to me; I'm just curious.

Yes, you can certainly use FF whey for a 3rd smoothie!
I like alternating the Body Protein and the FF whey for my smoothies to savor the differences between them.

    Good question

I just ordered my Smoothie Shakedown kit, I've enjoyed Classic Fat Flush but I've had a real hard time getting going again so I'm trying the Smoothie Shakedown which will be new and I'm hoping it will help me get focused and committed. I started the menopause journey last year and it's been very hard for me. The emotions are the worst, I happen to be a stress eater.... so I've really packed it on especially in the chest area. A recent trip to Las Vegas gave me a huge wake-up call, not only did I have to buy 2XXL tops, but all the walking killed my feet and my legs rubbed together and made a rash...it was so miserable I swore that when I got home I would reach out and do something to help myself and if I can help anyone else along the way that would be wonderful!

Welcome rrk509, you've come to the right place! The Forum is the perfect venue to give and receive support as we travel the journey to health. Yes, at each stage of life we learn new ways of taking care of our body's current needs and menopause offers yet one more opportunity to learn to care for ourselves.

While you're waiting for your SS kit to arrive, you can draw on your Fat Flush knowledge to begin a pre-flush and start eliminating the 'whites' and caffeine. You might also want to mix up some cranwater and begin 'flushing' out any extra water that's being held in your tissues.

We're glad you're here, and we're looking forward to seeing you often. You've made a wise decision in beginning this new journey!
