This condition may be associated with vitamin B12 deficiency or an oral yeast infection (candida albicans). Haven't seen it associated with menopause.

Hi there! No, I do not use any oral inhalers of any kind. I have seen dentists and even an oral surgeon regarding the midline and upper roof of my mouth soreness, but they have said everything looks normal on any xrays, etc. No candida, either. I have had this soreness every day now for over 7 months. Feels good in the morning, then around 10 am, starts to get sore, then lasts all day. Chewing gum helps, believe it or not, as well as chewing ice. I decided to try the internet for possible reasons, and what I found out surprised me! I read that "Burning Mouth Syndrome, or Burning Tongue", can be caused by Hormone Changes, and that 40% of menopausal women (which I am, I'm 53) have this strange symptom to menopause! It stated on WebMd that it can last 3 to 7 years! I can't seem to find anyone who has
gone through this particular problem to ask how they got relief, so just thought I'd give you a try!

    Neelyshari,
I know this is a very late post but I just saw this. I have a similar condition that has confounded doctors, too. I recently had a biopsy and found it was a form of lichen planus which is a name for a mysterious skin condition that can manifest in the mouth. It is alleviated by various treatments, among them are steroid gel, and also "oil pulling" with sesame oil. Obviously the oil pulling ( a process by which you take a tbsp of oil and draw it through your teeth for about a minute) is more appealing to Fat Flushers. The origins of the malady is shrouded in mystery ( probably because it affects more women of a certain age than men), however stress is one of the suspects.

    Hi Kit!

So good to hear from you.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I hope oil pulling can be helpful for your condition. If anyone wants more information on the oil pulling process, make sure to get a copy of Fat Flush for Life. Dr. Ann Louise has been a big proponent of oil pulling for many years and shares her thoughts as well as detailed directions in the book.
