    Default The insurmountable plateau

I've been a FF devotee for years. Let's just start with that: I have no problem with the requirements of the diet; I never have cravings; I rarely "cheat" (and when I do, it's with stuff like toast, not pie). Yet in the past year my weight crept up 14 pounds from where it should be. I attributed much of this to an activity slowdown caused by foot surgery in April and an injury in the spring that required physical therapy. I am now back and moving.

In May, I did the Smoothie Shakedown, which took me down four pounds. I did it for another week with no change. I've just finished the 5-day Hot Metabolism Booster, which I followed religiously and guess what? The scale didn't budge.

I'm back to Phase 1 Fat Flush, but extremely discouraged. I feel sluggish and tired. I'm riding a bicycle daily for exercise, and walking, but I don't feel I have much stamina. I take the FF supplements + CLA + Flora-Key, and I am never hungry during the day, but I would like to get rid of these pounds, which crowd my midsection and are making my clothes suddenly uncomfortable. I had hoped to lose weight over the summer and yet two months are gone already with very little movement. I'm in menopause but I'm not dead! I'd be glad of some advice that will get this weight off before much longer.

    Thanks,
    JHBoise

Wow, I could have written your post. When all else fails, check for medical reasons. You don't say how old you are (and normally we don't ask) but women 'of a certain age' are at risk for thyroid issues. That's what happened to me - my thyroid quit (gave up and went on strike for shorter hours and a vacation to Tahiti). It was a struggle to find the correct meds and dosages, but once that happened I could shed weight again. So MY advice: get a check-up if for nothing more than to rule out underlying medical complications. Keep us posted, k?

Charli gave you great advice- somethingg like 70% of folks are impacted by hypothyroid.

You may want to do a salivary hormone test. I found by adding in progesterone, I'm losing again.

You also may find the Tissue Mineral Analysis very helpful in sorting out your mineral levels. Feel free to call UniKey and let them help youu decide the best course of action.

I do notice that you've been in P1/detox mode for a long time while adding in aggressive exercise. Detox should last for not longer than 2 weeks with the amount of weight you need to lose and exercise should be very moderate. You're sending your body into starvation mode, causing it to hold on to weight even moreso.

    Keep us posted, K!

I think you're both right -- I'll go for the iodine & mineral tests & scootch up to P2. I've been afraid to increase what I'm eating, but I'll let you know how it goes!
