Wendy, that is amazing that you moved to Hawaii because the warmth and humidity helped relieve some of your pain. Did you have surgery before you went there or did you not ever have it. I seem to remember you saying that you still needed knee surgery. So glad the water workouts make you feel better.

It is now day 6 and am doing well. Everyday that you and I stick to the FF Plan we are "winners". I am very competitive and always like to win.

Keep up the positive attitude...it will make you the winner.

I only did Phase 1 for the two weeks, because I finally understood that is a detox and phase 2 is weight loss.

I'm starting week three of Phase 2 tomorrow.

I need to lose 70 pounds before they will give me new knees. Of course, if I lose 70 pounds I may not need new knees immediately.
I could lose at least 100...maybe even 120. So This is a lifestyle now.

I'm just thrilled it's been a month already and I'm not starving and I don't feel deprived

Gotta go read your other post.

    Aloha Kathryn -
To answer your question - I've had three knee surgeries...now need knee replacements. They like, cut off your leg to do that, so it's really something I want to avoid for as long as possible.

We are winners! Lovin that you are wrapping up your first week and I'm into week 5. Woo Hoo! High five for us!

Yes, I came here to do some work, got asked to stay and work on a grant, and well, just decided to live here. Helps that there's this really wonderful man who walked into my life and decided to stay. First time I've had a supportive partner - and friends - on this journey. Makes all the difference!

Gotta go harvest my lunch. Will check back later.

I did OK camping. Not as well as it could have but OK. I didn't drink the liquids I should have. The bathroom was really far away and if I drank the 8 to 10 glasses of liquid that I like to drink (well not really like to drink but force myself to drink), I would be spending my whole time walking back and forth to the bathroom. But, then again, I would have been walking really fast to get there, teehee, thus exercising more. I did not eat any sugar, grain, or dairy. I did eat too much fruit on Sunday. I made banana bread (and brought cream cheese for it) and I made my grandmother's pizza to bring there. I didn't eat either one. Let me tell you, my grandmother's homemade pizza is not just any old pizza. It is the pizza that they make in Italy. It is not anything like pizza's in America. It is soooooo gooooooood!
I did OK on the scale and am doing well. I am not going to post my weight loss til one month. So far I am really happy over the amount of weight I have lost. I am only going to measure myself once a month.....well maybe sooner if I start to get discouraged. So far I am not discouraged at all and am feeling very confident in myself....you have helped a lot.
Will losing more weight make it so that you may not have to have the knee replacement? Wow, so many surgeries on your knees. Is it both knees?
It is 9:00 a.m. here, so I guess it is 1:00 a.m. there and you are sound asleep and still smiling even in your sleep!!
Going to start today's FF journey...have to get my lemon and hot water and then my cranberry water and flax seed. If I can just get two things in, I know the rest of day's eating will be correct. Somehow it gets me in the right direction for the day.

    Good Morning Sunshine!
Congrats on making it through three days of camping without totally giving up your commitment to being healthy!
So proud of you! Not sure I could have passed up Grandmother's pizza. When we are on Phase 3 we can use spelt flour, load it with veggies and enjoy.

Glad you've seen a loss and glad you are happy. Yahoo! Gonna give yourself a little celebration for making it to your second week?

I'm not sure if the weight loss will allow me to delay the knee replacement - or not need it. But they say that loosing one pound of weight takes anywhere from 2-10 pounds of pressure off your knees (the estimates vary from dr to dr). So just the 9 pounds I've lost means my knees are bearing at least 18 pounds less. Yes it's both knees and on is literally bone on bone at this time. Hoping a big weight loss will ease this and I can go a while before surgery.

This whole FF thing started with the sudden ah-ha/rememberance of what my knees felt like with a full 40 pound pack on. Ouch! And I'm doing that every day to myself?!? Went to goodwill, found the FF Classic book, bought my cran and flax on the way home, and here we are.

I'm now starting the habit of getting up, go to the bathroom, go to the kitchen, drink cran/flax and then do a few things before lemon/water and smoothie time. If I do that right away, I can get my day flowing correctly too.

Nice to have you back. Looking forward to this week of successes and triumphs!

    Hi rgems!

    Welcome to our Forum family!

We are absolutely delighted you are here and are ready to guide you every step of the way. You have chosen a wonderful program to help you safely detox, lose weight and get healthy! While you are waiting for your SS kit to come, start what we call "pre-flushing" by cleaning out your fridge, freezer and pantry of anything that isn't SS friendly. I PROMISE you that if you spend the week avoiding anything with sugar, flour, preservatives, artificial sweeteners and in general "gunk," you'll breeze your way into the SS.

Even though your booklet hasn't come yet, the entire program is online at www.smoothieshakedown.com So take this time to read through the protocols, shopping lists and recipes so you can be ready to go when your supplies arrive. Also, read through the amazing success stories you'll find there and start imagining the day when you can add yours!

I also wanted to mention that if you are interested in one-on-support, I offer Personalized Meal Planning and Food Coaching for all of Dr. Ann Louise's programs, including the SS, all phases of Fat Flush and Fat Flush for Life. As an 11 year Fat Flusher who has lost a tremendous amount of weight (and kept it off!) despite some significant health challenges (including hypothyroidism) I love to help! I also specialize in helping people transition from the SS to the next step in the Fat Flushing process so they can continue reaching their goals. E-mail me at linda@mealplanningmaven.com for more info...

And do stick close to the forum for support...we love to help!
