    Talking FFFL for candida ?

I've been doing detox on the smoothie shakedown and am really impressed by both the results, and the high energy I feel throughout. So glad I found this program! My question though is for my brother, who has been fighting candida yeast overgrowth. He's had white film on his tongue and throat, sluggishness throughout his body, has tried the medical route of prescription drugs to no avail, and has been going holistic with radical changes to his diet. Fortunately, he seems to have beat it but is now looking for a strong maintenance eating regimen to regain some of his weight and prevent the yeast from coming back. It seems that FFFL would be an ideal program for him to follow ! Most doctors just advise him to eliminate all sugars and food with sugars, and take probiotics. Can anybody speak to this? Thanks so much for sharing such good information on all the wonderful FF programs!

    Hi Urbanpoet,
Yes, food changes can help reduce yeast/candida by reducing their food sources but you'll want to get Y/C Cleance from UniKey to use as maintenance. It's a homeopathic approach using Candida Albicans. I've tried several yeast cleanses from different companies and after one nasty attack on my stomach and several less than desirable runs...I'll never use anything else.

Dr. ALG keeps very high quality standards and UniKey produces supplements to her standards and regularly third party tests. Her formulation is very effective, yet gentle.

A good probiotic is a must for everybody. It will keep all the baddies at bay.

Let us know how it goes. Which phase will you move to?

Thanks for your reply! The question is actually for my brother, who has eliminated all sugars and starches in his quest to rid his body of the yeast. But he's lost too much weight and needs to find an appropriate diet to help regain some weight but which will not stir up the yeast. Thanks in advance for any advice!

He could do FFFL adding in extra carbs and protein until he gains back the weight, then reducing to the recommended amounts or slightly more to maintain his desired weight. It's a great anti-candida plan.

Ya, I was asking you which phase you were planning to transition to...it's good to have a plan so that those lost pounds don't find their way back. Hth

Thanks for the candida tips. What would be "good" extra carbs for him to include?

As for me, I am about to finish my first week on the smoothie shakedown, and am thinking I'll do a second week as recommended. After that, I will probably switch to the fat flush classic for a week, and maybe go back on SS for two more weeks. I really like it, and feel great while doing it! No real hunger pangs.. that's a first for me on a new diet.

If he's following the FFFL plan, then extras of any of the clean carbs noted for that particular season would be the best choice. Or - absent the FFFL book, you can refer to the list of Succession Carbs in your Shakedown Guide (page 43-44) for some ideas.

Keep in mind that the Smoothie Shakedown was designed as a short-term plan - intended to jump-start (or "jump-finish") weight-loss or to break a stubborn plateau.
With fewer than 50 pounds to lose, the Smoothie Shakedown should be followed only for a 2-week period.
With 50 pounds or more to lose, the Smoothie Shakedown can be followed for a total of up to 4 weeks at a time, with the recommended one-week break after 2 weeks.

Welcome to the ranks of those who love the SS!
Post again to update us on your progress, okay?

I have been battling this for years...I am on YC for a month...the spit test in the morning is still the same...Ann Louise in the forum suggested Molybdemum as well. Is there anything esle you suggest. What does the YC have candida Albicans? What does it do...I thought that was the name of the disease itself?

    Hi Overcomer!
The Y-C Cleanse is a homeopathic- meaning like cures like, so that is why it contains Candida albicans. You can think of it working much the same way a vaccine works.
In addition to the Y-C Cleanse and Molybenum, I might recommend Formula SF-722. Make sure you are also following a diet with no added sugars, no fruit or fruit juices, no bread, no cheese, and no alcohol.
    I hope this helps you!
