Ok so I didn't get my walk in yesterday..
The two younger kids and I went into Boston to see the Lion King ... wonderfully fun! except for the man sitting next to me.. where do these rude people come from?????

When the kids and I went to see Wicked, our seats were not bad until the people in front of us arrived and they were TALL I'm tellin ya TALL! I had to lean to the left or right to see around them! They should have a height order in theaters.
Last night we had wonderful seats, the show began.. .the seats next to me were empty... then low and behold during the middle of the first scene the couple (prob late 20s early 30s) arrive... He is playing with his cell phone so the light is hurting my eye.. I give him 'the look' and he puts it away. THEN he begins Talking to his female companion!!!! Ok finally when that stops he begins to SING... ummm last I checked buddy this isn't a sing a long!
This went on throughout the first act during the songs he knew.
Intermission comes and they of course need to get out and go shop in the lobby. They arrive back and the 2nd half begins... and he pulls out a crinkly package of cookies... yes that package was loud! I almost smacked him!! He rustled that package throughout the show. I was leaning almost into my son's lap trying to get away from the noise!

The show itself was great and the kids liked it... but man! what is with my seat choice luck??

Today I decided to jump on the treadmill early ... by 20 mins my feet really hurt as did my shins. I stopped and stretched again, retied the shoes, lifted the tounge etc... jumped back on and nope... couldn't do it. When I removed my shoes, there was a pretty deep ridge on the top of my foot where the sneaker was pressing into it. I'm off after my meditation and shower to get new walking shoes in hopes this will help. My PT told me to head to Marathon Sports as they will have you walk and fit you with a shoe for your feet... worth a try!

I've slowly been getting back into the walking, doing physical therapy for my arm and they have me doing hand weights and arm weights and have loved doing rebounding with my new dvd "Bouncin in the House" .....

Ok...next adventure! I got in the mood and called Get in Fit for Women... its a personal training franchise that just opened not to long ago in my town. You have a personal trainer who works with 4 women at a time to keep the cost down to $20 a session 3 times a week.
They also have a nutritionist work with you... sessions are an hour long.. 1/2 hr weights 1/2 hr cardio. Today I am going for my free session and to see if it is something I would want to do. I did email them first and it asks you to state your goals. I mentioned I am on FF and want to get toned as well as lose weight. The owner called and we chatted and he said his nutritionist is very aware of FF so no problem working with this plan.

Tonight I have a party to attend and then tomorrow off to a fancy Gala in the evening... oy... sure wish I had the body back 2 yrs ago!

a whirlwind weekend!!

Friday's free session was awesome. I was sent through the circuit routine doing 2 sets at each station... curls, lifts, leg press, crunches, yoga pointer pose, ham stretch, etc etc etc...
I am pretty limber and have pretty good balance and the trainer was happy with that. He said I ruined his 'newbie intro' as they like to see those totally out of shape fall over (I'm sure he was kidding!)
After the weights, I went onto cardio and since the groups are kept small (4 in a group) they have only 2 treadmills and 2 ehlipticals... I am not en elliptical kind of gal and have never really worked out on one. I got on and did 15 mins and was dripping sweat! I was able to maintain between 3.5 mph and 4.9 mph! no shin/top of foot pain...so I think I love being an elliptical gal now! I do believe it is supposed to be a better work out than the treadmill anyway.
So... Friday night I went to a going away party for a boyfriend of a friend... met some new people, ate some 'not so ff friendly food' but had fun...

Flash forward a few hours and I awake in pain from rolling over... yep every muscle in my body was screaming! My legs, my arms, my upper back and sides... oh my! He had said I'd be sore but this was insane!! If I sat to long it hurt to get up... but once I moved around it was bearable!
I gussied up and went to the Homes For Our Troops Gala and had an enjoyable time. Col. Oliver North is a very entertaining speaker and I enjoyed listening to what he had to say. Had a very nice dinner and good conversation... but moving around was sore.

Today... less sore, good night's sleep... tomorrow, back to the gym for more lifting and cardio... wonder if I will have the same soreness after another workout.. sure hope not!

So here I am thinking I'd be in bed asleep by 9:30 and I'm still up and on the computer... ok so I'll post and get to bed before 10pm...that gives me 4 minutes to compose my thoughts!

I went to my first real day at Get in Shape for Women today. Nice group of ladies to work with. They have all signed up for M, W, F at 9am so i'll get to know them. I hit it off right away with one of them.

I swear the trainer was trying to hurt me today! She kept setting the weights to 4... but I can only do #3 ! She did move it down 1 when asked. I was still sore from Friday but did my best. It was definitely more difficult today. Went though the circuit and then it was cardio time. I chose the treadmill today and did the workout in the FF4L book...nice workout and no calf muscle pain

Today was gorgeous outside so I did some putzing around the yard and then before I knew it, it was tutoring time. Picking up my student I got wind of a possible call from another family coming my way. My reputation is spreading word of mouth and I'm getting busy!

Ok.. my time is up!
Good night!!

Just spent the past few hours picking up sticks and getting a burn pile going. Yes, it is burning season in my small town.. no need for permits and the only things you can't burn are leaves and house waste (old boards with paint, toxic furniture etc.) So my little pile is full of sticks, branches, and vines. I love the smell!

As I walked along the yard I felt the burn in my legs from yesterday's gym work out... my legs really hurt today. I keep trying to get up and move. I am today my arms are fine after Monday's workout and pain on Tues and Wed.... so I am left wondering if this weightlifting is just one pain after another.

Got my workout done... so glad I picked 9am time slot. Today was upper body weights again... ouch!!
I'm hoping to not be as sore this time around....but I don't know.

Legs are still sore but walking on the treadmill made it feel better.

Last night my younger sister came and spent the night. We went out to dinner at a new restaurant... I did well until the dessert menu came around and I got a piece of cheesecake... ultimate fail in the food dept. as my kids would say!

The day started out well enough... then, I went to visit my mother. I had a wonderful turkey and veggie soup she made...but then added to that a slice of whole wheat italian read and then ice cream... oy... my mother is a baaaad influence!!!

Arms are tender after yesterday's arm weights. The tricep muscles are what are hurting today. ... but at least I can walk normally today!

Been a while since I wrote here...

I found that being 100% on program has been difficult for me this go around. I just need to hit that groove I keep telling myself... don't know if its been the winter weather, the stress of life, being 46, ... don't know... but I keep trying.

So far 2 100% on plan days

The exercise is helping keep me focused too... while I've not lost a lb in a few weeks, I am diligently going to work outs 3 days a week and trying to walk on the treadmill at home 3 days a week at least! Yes, I lift weights and then hobble around like an old hobbit trying to walk off the pain I feel when I stiffen up after driving or sitting... yeouch!

Easter weekend is here.. I volunteered to bring a turkey and have to find my recipe for FF sweet potato salad... I forget how to make it and it is AWESOME! Now to avoid the chocolate and the desserts that will be there!

Good Morning!
Happy Easter to those who celebrate

Last night was a rough one with me surrounded by chocolate, jellybeans, and other sweets...BUT while I had a nibble... I didn't succumb and gorge! hooray!!!!

I did make the most wonderful smelling "Bare Foot Contessa" coconut cupcakes with creamcheese frosting sprinkled with coconut and decorated with jellybean eggs ...sooo cute!

Today is celebration with my inlaws. This year is a picnic theme. My sister in law bought a house on a lake and we will all meet there.... in folding chairs, blankets and folding tables! They just passed papers so it isn't furnished lol.... the request went out for food... so... I thought "Be proactive Lisa and make sure there is food there that is FF friendly!"

I made a sweet potato salad. I used to have this wonderful recipe on my PC that crashed. It called for cilantro, cayenne pepper, lime, oil and acv.... but I couldn't recall what else or the proper measurements... SO I improvised. I made a dressing using 2 TBSP Olive oil, 1.4 cup lemon, 2TBSP ACV, cumin, corriander, cayenne, cinnamon, cilantro , garlic and ginger... whipped it up and mixed it with cubed sweet potato, diced onion, red peppers and celery.... YUM!

I also cooked the Turkey... so some may know that I AM NOT A COOK... I hate cooking generally but being on FF has brought forth this little cook that has enjoyed making up dishes and experimenting. ..... anywho, I dressed the turkey last night and put it in the fridge with saran wrap over the top.... I got up at 7am with the alarm and sleepily went about morning routine and popped the bird in the oven in the middle of it all.... an hour and a half goes by and I decide to make my spaghetti squash pudding (figure I can bring half and eat that at dessert time! good plan!!) Well... I open oven to check bird and lo and behold it was still sitting in the pan under the saran wrap YIKES>>> BUT its the cheap store brand and DIDN"T MELT! Thank goodness! I unwrapped the bird and none are the wiser!

Woke my kiddos (16 and 14... my 19 yr old couldn't come home for Easter ) and made them pancakes...then gave them their baskets and had them hunt for eggs outside. You know it goes much quicker the older they get! AND I have to hide a $20 bill in an egg to motivate them! haha I'm going to have to really start hiding them under things and below leaves next year! They told me my hiding places were to easy!

So. to anyone reading.. have a Happy Day!

Lisa

Whoo hoo...

so... today was work out day and I did upper body weights and cardio in the morning. I went home and while the scale hasn't really budged all that much, I did manage to put on a size down in the pants. I'm losing inches and toning with the exercise!

This evening I was alone for most of the night as my children were off in different directions. So when I got bored, I jumped on the treadmill and did another 2 miles and it felt sooooo good!!!

I'm getting stronger and healthier and I am loving the feeling I get... I forgot it felt this good!
