Default Newbie with GERD from food poisoning

Hi, I hope someone can help.
I had food poisoning in Aug 2008 which I believe lead to my Heartburn and Acid reflux which began ic Oct 2008. I react badly to all prescription medication to control this so am trying to heal my gut with a supplement called Gastrazyme which I take before eating and helps sometimes. I also must take 81mg asprin for my platlets which are high 500 range.

Almost any supplements going into my stomach set me off. I have been taking other probiotics on a regular basis but also with food as they burn. When I use HCL or digestive enzymes it really burns. If I don't use them I have no appetite and don't digest my food well so I'm always bloated.

I have lost a lot of weight since August and am trying to gain by just eating anyway.
I did use a herbal formula for the bacteria back in August but maybe did not continue long enough.
I have always had problems with yeast and candida. I have mutiple food allergies and chemical sensitivities and weak adrenals(lots of fatigue). I do take olive leaf occasionally and probiotics daily.

My question is what to start with? I wondered in taking 1 or 2 of Dr. O's probiotic with food would work.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Sarajane,
Welcome to the Forum.

Sounds like you are a perfect candidate for the Gut Flush Plan. Your post mentions many of the issues that Ann Louise addresses in the book.

My suggestion for you would be to get a copy of the book as soon as you can and begin the basic Gut Flush protocol outlined in chapter 2. Other chapters in the book will address additional issues you've spoken of.

About the Dr. Ohhira's probiotic - Yes, this would be a wonderful addition to your program. You would begin with the loading dose indicated on the package. The directions recommend that it is taken on an empty stomach.

I hope this information is helpful to you.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks Michelle,
I do have the book and will continue to review it. Just a little worried about 5 of the probiotic on an empty stomach and causing heartburn.

Dr. Ohirra's probiotics should actually help the problem...you typically shouldn't experience any heartburn with that. Of course, anything is possible, but I would definitely keep reading as it will truly help you get through and out the other side of your problem. Let us know how you do, 'k?

I'm pretty sure it says on the package. But as a general rule of thumb, I'd say 45 mins.

Just a few more questions, I have started Dr. O's probiotics and I hope it's ok I started with one to be sure it was ok for me. I'm up to 5 a day. I am a little dizzy/spacey. Should I up the dose? Do I start the diet yet or just do this for 1 week? My diet is not bad but I do eat fruit. Did have some Rice Dream last night. I know that wasn't good.
Another question is regarding my food poisoning. I did have a stool culture EIA from my family Dr. which was negative for clostridium difficle toxin A & B, salmonella and shigella and campylobacter. I had the food tested, was positive with high levels of Coliform . My question is do I need to do more stool testing to know what other products to use next?
