Question Thanks for all your postings!

I am new and on my fifth day of the Smoothie Shakedown. So far I think I'm down about 6.5 pounds which is scary good! I've enjoyed reading everyone's helpful Q&A and am excited about it all. So thank you!

I have periodic bouts with Hashimoto's and went into adrenal fatigue two months ago, spurred on by PMS. I supplement estradiol (bio-ID) and progesterone (same) along with my thyroid meds but as I am in dissertation phase I have not done so well with taking care of myself. I'm the only doctoral fellow left in my College and stress is persistent. My 7 and 14 year old are in full boy mode and my husband (55) lost his job in December and has decided he's maybe retired! I'm 43 and hard to slow down, but last month's mayhem put me in bed for nearly 10 days. So I'm all done with that!

I have watched my diet before starting the SS and indulged here and there, but nothing massive. However, removing grains, etc. from my diet has clearly made a difference in my metabolism which is not surprising given my probably insulin resistance due to thyroid and other hormonal swings. I am feeling balanced and awesome. The SS is the icing on that brand new cake.

For the first three days I had horrible headaches but as the days went on they subsided a bit. No headache after day 4. If there is no other reason not to cheat it is to be rid of those icky headaches. I have avoided all of the typical holiday desserty things simply because I don't want to go through that again. My body is trying to tell me something.

I have been using my whey powder from Whole Foods and cannot wait to get my BP on the 8th. But, so far, so good.

I started SS at 170.5 and hover around a size 10. I'm athletic and have been my whole life but this thyroid madness has indeed slowed me down periodically. I am 5'7" and figuring I would like to get down to 130-135. I have a medium sized frame.

Question: Can I go to the FF Phase 1 after two weeks on the SS?

Thanks again everyone! Be strong: invest in your health!

Nice going, Ms. PhD2b! Yes, you can move on to Phase 1 after SS!

hey PhD2b!

Welcome, I'm so glad you're having success with the SS. I love the program and it was (and is) fundamental in my weight loss journey. You can go to P1 after your SS is done but honestly since you only have 40lbs to lose or so you might want to head to P2. Staying on the detox type diet (SS & P1) for too long can lead to low energy and boredom and can actually jeopardize your success. My personal suggestion would be to head to P2 for a few weeks and then you can jump back in with another SS round or a 2 week P1 if you'd like. Not only will it give your taste buds a little more variety and therefore help with the boredom factor (I mean I love smoothies but wouldn't a sweet potato be grand right now, LOL!) but it'll keep your metabolism guessing which can be a great thing!

FYI..you mention adrenal burnout, have you looked into the Adrenal Formula at Unikey, grrreat stuff!

Let us know how it continues to go for you ok?

Chris
