Hi Forum Friends,
I very excitedly began my shakedown routine this morning starting with LLC and hot lemon water. I received all my supplements over the weekend, so I was all set there. Made my shake and stuck in the freezer to bring to work. I don't know if my stomach/system is rebelling or what, but I have been fighting the urge to throw up since choking down the LLC this morning and drinking the HLW. As I sit here at my desk drinking my first smoothie, I am very nauseous. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a system shock in this way? Hoping it is temporary for the first few days, but am fighting with all my willpower not to grab a saltine to settle my stomach. ![]() |

Hi Dogmom,
Did you happen to take your supplements on an empty stomach? If so, make sure you wait and have them with your smoothie. The first time I did FF, I couldn't take the supplements on an empty stomach or else I'd feel like I was going to spew. Lisa

No, I've learned my lesson with the supplements so I always take those with food. My thought is perhaps that much acidity on an empty stomach (cran juice and then lemon) along with the fiber is upsetting my stomach and making me nauseous? I also found that the shake this morning did not satisfy my appetite. I was hungry within an hour. I'll keep plugging, but any experienced guidance would be welcomed!

Hi dogmom,
Not really sure what is going on with your upset stomach as nausea is not commonly reported on the Shakedown. The important thing will be to see if it continues. Hopefully you're not coming down with a bug or something. That being said, the lemon water and LLC are optional on the Shakedown, so feel free to skip them if you think they're upsetting your stomach. Or if you enjoy them, you can have them anytime throughout the day. In terms of not feeling satisfied, feel free to snack on any P1 veggies if you feel hungry. You may also add a 3rd smoothie if needed. Hope you feel better and that you're able to stick with it. Do report in often so we know how you are doing. ![]()

You are using the Body Protein Powder...right? It will keep you satisfied for a much longer period of time....4 to 5 hours. The Whey Protein will usually keep you satisfied for approx. 3 hours. (These are the powders available from UniKey.) The Smoothie Shakedown is supposed to be done with the Body Protein. Just thought I'd check and make sure.......

Hi Terri,
Yes, I am using the Body Protein Powder. It's just not satiating my hunger for very long. My theory is that my stomach is telling my brain that I'm trying to trick it with non-solid food and is rebelling. And it's trying to punish me for not chewing. No seriously, I've always had this problem with smoothies, they just don't do it for me. I had hoped that the Body Protein would be different for me. I'll keep trying to mix it up though and try them at different times and perhaps accompany with some veggie stix or something. Wish I had the same luck as others with 4 whole hours or being full. It's not that I mind the feeling of hunger so much, it's more that I can't concentrate when I'm famished. Another thought is to perhaps ease into it with trying just 1 shake a day instead of 2? |

Just to post my 2 cents. I just finished my SS last week. I found I was MUCH more satiated once I started using Chia seeds in my smoothies. The first few days I didn't have them and I remember being kinda hungry. Once I got them I made sure to let them "gel" in my smoothie before drinking it, it really helped. In addition, I always put my "lunch" smoothie in the freezer at work first then when I got there (I made both in the AM and drank one on way to work and kept the other for lunch). When I got the lunch one out of the freezer around noon it was semi frozen which made me have to eat it with a spoon and therefore sllloooow dooown! This really helped. The slower I "ate" the fuller I felt, same for drinking the smoothie slower in the AM too. Maybe this will help you.
Good luck, I loved the SS, I lost 16-17 lbs and over 10inches. Its just 2 weeks, I KNOW you can do it! Best wishes, Chris

hello Chris...Wow congrats..that is awesome....I also just finished my 2 weeks...I started at 4 pounds less than you and lost only 6 pounds.. of course I am 30 years older than you and I know that must have a lot to do with the rapid and large loss....wonder if you could report very closely what you ate each day? thanks so much...Linda

Hi Linda,
I see that you are from the foothills of the NC mountains. I was born and raised in Hendersonville! Beautiful area. During the SS I always had my two shakes. I used the body protein and either strawberries or peaches and the chia seeds, FSO. I found I'd drink my smoothies so slowly that I didn't need a morning snack between breakfast and lunch but I did need an afternoon snack. For the snack I always ate a hard boiled egg. I love them I could eat a dozen a day if I could. Then for supper I would eat a big salad with lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, celery, and any other veggie I had in the fridge with a FSO & ACV dressing with some dried mustard or some other FF friendly spice in it too. I'd eat usually 6-7 oz of chicken or beef, I had lamb once or twice, usually just cooked in broth with some garlic and parsley or cilantro. Nothing more, nothing less. I've transitioned to P2 and have only lost another 3 lbs but I've lost another 10 inches! I've started working out pretty significantly so I've kinda quit worrying about pounds and focused more on inches. I can tell my body is totally reshaping itself. I'd still like to lose another 10 lbs or so but as long as I'm working out and I'm losing inches I don't care if it takes me another year! I really feel SOOO very good. I wish you luck. Let us know how you are doing! This is a great program. You cannot go wrong with ALG, her programs always keep you in the right direction. Hey...just had a thought..you are taking the FF kit right? All the supplements are TOTALLY VITAL. They may seem like an expensive investment but the value you gain in health and wellbeing is amazing and worth their weight in gold. I ran out and was without for about 4 days...I could totally tell! Best wishes! Chris
