Well, not such a great shakin' day for me today. I got about half my morning shake down before I had to run off to a meeting. By the time I got back, I just really didn't want the rest. It was only an hour until lunch time anyway and I had a scheduled lunch with a vendor. I had already rescheduled a couple of times, so I felt obligated. At least he was OK with the salad bar restaurant I chose. We ended up talking about healthy eating, working out and ALG and FF.
TOM came this morning to stay for a few days, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with my not so great day. However, I usually get some distinct warnings, but not this time. Maybe the FSO and GFS are helping? The good news is...I'm on day 4 without coffee! I don't know the last time I went a day without coffee, much less 4 days! It wasn't planned. I used my last coffee filter on Sunday and forgot to put filters on my shopping list. I bought filters Tuesday night, but thought I'd see if I could keep going. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. It actually makes my morning routine easier. How do you fit in a cup of coffee with the HLW and LLC? I guess dreading breaking a bad habit it worse than actually doing it. Tomorrow is a new day... Deb |

Hey there Deb ~
When you have a bad day, just realize that it will come to an end. Because...when you wake up in the morning, it's a whole new day. Take it one choice, one decision at a time. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Looking at the big picture, the long term goal, can be intimidating. So focus on the short term....one bite at a time. Congrats...4 days...coffee free. Have a wonderful day tomorrow. ![]()

Congratulations on your 4th day w/o coffee! I had a pretty intense coffee addiction and I have really come to enjoy the roasted dandelion tea..it has a bit of a nutty flavor and it is approved on P1 of FF so I think it would be ok during the SS? I have also found that Flaxoil and magnesium helped alot during TOM (love that term lol)

I have a question regarding adding chia seeds to the smoothie: should we grind the seeds first? A web site explaining the benefits of chia has a smoothie recipe that advises grinding the seeds first so that the benefits of the seeds are better absorbed by the body. I had thought previously that chia seeds, unlike flax seeds, don't need to be ground.
Thanks so much. |

Good morning Anne~
What you thought...is correct. Dr. Anne Louise says that it is not necessary to grind them. That the body can, and will, l get all the wonderful nutrients out of the whole seeds as they pass through....unlike the flax seeds. So you are good to go with the whole seeds. If you prefer, you can use the ones already ground. I have used both, and like them both. So it becomes a matter of personal preference.

Good Evening All,
Day one on the smoothie shakedown was easier than I had anticipated. As I was blending my first shake of the day, I thought, "I'm going to be so hungry!" -- but guess what? I honestly was NOT hungry. I was also concerned about the taste ( some have reported preferring the Whey protein much better than the BP) of the shake, but again, I was happily surprised by the almost nutty-like taste ( maybe this is due to the chia seeds? By the way, the chia seeds really do thicken up the smoothie!). I love the simplicity of this particular protocol ( I am not a cook by any stretch of the imagination)...... I only have to think about planning ONE meal. The only "negatives" I experienced today was that initially, I felt a bit nauseous each time I took my vitamins. I'm thinking maybe I am simply not used to taking vitamins? The other, I had a terrible migraine when I woke up this morning ( and doubt this migraine had anything to do with today) and finally had to give in and take Excedrin ( I know these migraines of mine are brought on by stress and they are doozies!). It's 7:35pm in lonely LA and I'm off to prepare my dinner, but I had a quick question if anyone is around ............ okay, I incorporated the flaxseed oil in both smoothies today so is it okay to add ANOTHER tablespoon in my salad tonight? Thank you all in advance. Myfavoritepinkmartini |

Hello and Good Evening MFPM ~
If you have added one full tbsp of the flax seed oil to both of your smoothies, then you really shouldn't add any to your meal. I add 2 tsp of oil to the smoothies, so that I can have a couple of tsp of the oil with my veggies, or salad when I have my meal. I agree with you...I love the taste of the Body Protein Powder. But more than that...I love how full it keeps me for up to 6 hours. I had a great day today. I am really looking forward to stepping on the scale at the end of the week. I can feel my clothes getting loose.

Hi Terri,
Thank you for your speedy response. Just as I thought ........... I like your suggestion about the FSO and will do the same for tomorrow night's meal. I am also taking your cue and NOT weighing until the end of week one. Glad to hear that you had a good day. I hope you're weekend is a good one. MFPM |

Hi MFPM,
Congrats on a successful Day 1! Regarding your vitamins, your reaction is fairly common. Do make sure you have food in your stomach when you take them. Also...drink plenty of water each time and i bet you'll feel much better. How are our our other Shakers doin'?
