OOOOH Marianne...hope your shin splints are better very soon. My DD had very painful ones last year so I know how uncomfortable you must be.

1 hour at the gym

Tried an elliptical program for 15 minutes, all intervals. Oh was that challenging! The other 45 minutes were mostly weight training and abs.

Sorry to hear about those painful shins Marrianne. Have you tried pilates, they are way easier. I like the pilates on the ball as a non-impact exercise.

I ran 4 1/2 miles with the boys to school today. It kills my boss that I"m not here for work an hour early, I'm making it in only 1/2 hour early He's beside himself. Yet... when he's not here most of the time he's been calling to see if I am - LOL. I got numbness in my right side of my foot and toes today when running. I"m going to see if it happens on Saturday, if it does, I'll make an appt to see the chiropractor. I know it's not shoe related.

Anyone do any barefoot running? I hate shoes.

I've seen the "shoes" I think you're referring to...

But I don't know anyone who's tried them.

Marianne... sorry about your shinsplints! I fully empathize with you. I am just getting back into the routine of exercising after wks of pain from stressed out shin muscles. Remember to ice and rest!

Today I joined Get in Shape for Women... the commericals really spoke to me and got me motivated!

I loved the routine... I did weights upper and lower body workout for 1/2 an hour and then got on the elliptical (a machine I've never used before) and got in 15 mins at 3.5- 4.0 on that! i was dripping sweat! when done. I go back on Monday so my new plan will be 3 days a wk at GSW and 3 days a simple walk at home.. and rebounder boucing each day.

Default thanks all

thank you everyone for your concern. OMG these shin splints are still not better. My hubby says it will be at least a week! Driving is killing me but I'm a Realtor and that's my job - no work - no pay!

Friday check-in:

35 minutes cardio (elliptical and treadmill) at the gym + 30 minutes PT for my ongoing shoulder problems

I made my 5 days of working out goal this week..YIPPEE!

mlb...I cannot even imagine running barefoot...WOW!!!

Marianne...I think patience is going to be the name of the game here (easier said than done, I know!)

Lisa...I am so proud of you Girlfriend! Your program sounds fantastic! Good for you for switching things up!

Tracy and Terri...you both sound like you had great workout weeks too!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I did a quick kettle bell routine - 20 min yesterday than headed off to trial. I started my day with a 3 mile trail run. I'm at work all day today and hoping for a bike ride after work - haven't figured out if that means Harley or bicycle. Weather is supposed to be great.

Thanks for the info on the barefoot running, am really interested in it.

Marianne- I thought of you as I was reading my ChiRunning book. It says the most common cause of shin splints are landing on your toes. The plan I use teaches a "midfoot" strike which would cause less stress on your shin muscles. Hope you are mending quickly.

Gold - did you start your kettlebell with the trainer?
